Absentee Voting

Alaska is a no excuse absentee voting state. Anyone may apply to receive an absentee ballot. Currently, residents can vote by Mail, Fax, or Online Delivery. See below for additional information on these three options.

Mail

Apply for an absentee ballot by completing the application here and submitting to the Absentee Office by mail, fax or by email as an attached PDF, TIFF or JPEG file.

You may apply for a by-fax delivery ballot for the August 18, 2020 Primary Election and the November 3, 2020 General Election beginning 15 days prior to each election.

In-Person Voting

If you would like to vote in-person, voters have the option to vote early or on Election Day. Locate your polling location here.

Election Day

You will be asked for ID by the poll worker. Once provided, the poll worker will look up your name. If you do not have any changes to your registration information, you will sign your name and be given a ballot.

Early Voting

Early voting is similar to when you go vote at your polling place on Election Day. Most in-person voting locations open 15 days prior to each Election Day and remain open through Election Day.

Primary Election Key Dates:

  • July 19, 2020: Deadline for voters to register to vote or update registration.
  • August 3, 2020: Absentee In Person, Early Vote, electronic transmission and Special Needs voting begins.
  • August 8, 2020: Deadline to receive absentee by-mail applications.
  • 5 PM | August 17, 2020: Deadline to receive absentee electronic transmission ballot applications.
  • POLLS OPEN 7 AM – 8 PM | August 18, 2020: Primary Election Day

General Election Key Dates:

  • October 4, 2020: Deadline for voters to register to vote or update registration.
  • October 19, 2020: Absentee In Person, Early Vote, electronic transmission and Special Needs voting begins.
  • October 24, 2020: Deadline to receive absentee by-mail applications.
